Hello everyone. I have been diagnosed with ra for over 3 years now and I am on methotrexate, prednisolone and planquill. I also take dihydrocodeine for pain and amitrypceline, alendronic acid, buccastem, omeprazole, calcichew and frolic acid. Quite a mixture but I think everyone is about the same. I often take a terrible itch all over my body and I wonder if anyone else experiences this. There appears to be no pattern to when it happens but is very tiresome particularly when I lose sleep with it.
I was medically retired from the job I loved just about a year now but have learned to accept that you can make a new life and work around your ra!
I do find this site very supporting and am so glad I joined.

Hello Moira
Welcome to the forum, you will always have support and understanding as you can see, we all know what each other is going through at times and that can help so much.
I have suffered from itching and had it really bad when I was on infliximab and it was only because I found out on here that antihistamine can be of great benefit that I spoke with my GP, I now take it whenever it rears its head and always seems to take it away. I hope it does the trick for you as well.
Best wishes, and keep us posted, Julia x

Hi Moira
A warm welcome to this forum which you will find is an invaluable source of encouragement advice and fun. There isn't any question you can't ask and I have found it an invaluable source of support.
I have been diagnosed 5 years, am 57 and am currently on Methotrexate and Enbrel along with Lanzaprazole folic acid and pain kilers as and when. I have not really had a problem with itching and I hope you manage to get relief from it soon.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.
Best Wishes
Sue

Sorry to hearyou have not had much luck with the medication, it certainly takes time!
I was admitted to hospital last year after taking a bad reaction to sulphasilene which caused me to lose quite a bit of blood. I had to get a transfusion as my hamoglobin count was down at 6!fortunately I recovered well and that drug was stopped! It is true that what works for one does not so for the other!
I find the steroid injections marvellous when the joints are very painful!
When work starts having a real impact on your quality of life it is time to consider options. I tried my best to get back but i was. Just constantly exhausted!

Hello Moiraod I am Naomi and I was diagnosed in August last year. I get itching too. I get it on my hands when the joints are inflamed there but it usually goes away within an hour or two and is not too bad. However I get hives sometimes too on my legs below the knee and the itching there is absolutely maddening. It is accompanied by a pinkish orange rash and swelling. I want to claw at my skin when this happens. Luckily (touch wood) this only lasts for a few minutes as otherwise I would go bonkers! Best wishes from Naomi.
